2. What is the last thing you celebrated? Why did you do it? How can you be more intentional about celebrating God’s gifts?
3. Read Nehemiah 12:27-30. What were the people preparing to do here? Why? What is humanity’s primary purpose?
4. What was the role of the Levites in the dedication service? Why was this their role? What other groups assisted the Levites in their task?
5. How should we prepare ourselves for corporate worship? Do we expect to hear from God each Lord’s Day? Why/why not?
6. Read Nehemiah 12:31-39. What was the reason for the parade of choirs? How should our words and lives demonstrate to our friends and neighbors that we honor the name of the Lord?
7. What instruments were included in this procession? What does this teach us about the use of instruments in worship? How can we ensure that God’s Word, not our preferences, guides our corporate worship?
8. What is every worship service a corporate testimony to? Why should we give thanks to God at all times, even when we don’t feel like it?
9. Read Nehemiah 12:40-43. What happened when the two choirs finished their procession? What was the reason for this response? How can we ensure our worship is never half-hearted?
10. What are some specific things we should be giving thanks to God for? What is joy? How is it different than happiness? Read Zephaniah 3:17. Meditate on the truth that God is exulting over you with loud singing.
11. Spend some time praying for the needs of our family, friends, group members, unsaved neighbors, and congregation.
